This morning—Wednesday November 23, 2016--a group of commanders and members of Basij forces gathered at Imam Khomeini's (ra) Husseiniyeh to meet with the Leader of the Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei.

In this meeting, His Eminence Ayatollah Khamenei praised the Arbaeen pilgrimage and said: “The magnificent march of Arbaeen is truly a historical and divine phenomenon; one that indicates that this path, is a path of love entwined with insight. This blessing requires offerings of gratitude and immense appreciation that would preserve the memory of brotherly love, merciful spirits and the remembrance of Wilyah you have embraced on this march. I welcome back the pilgrims who completed the march; and I ask God to accept their pilgrimage. I thank the Iraqi people for hosting and taking care of such a large number of people.”

His Eminence elaborated on the establishment of the Mobilized Forces known as Basij and held: “Basij was an amazing phenomenon during the Revolution and Imam Khomeini had this divine intuition to create something so phenomenal; that is to say, to leave the revolution in the hands of the youth [ by establishing Basij]. Among the enemy’s plots is to infiltrate and create rivals and parallels for the Basij and the officers of the soft war. We should be vigilant.”

The Leader of the Revolution reflected upon an example from the Quran, where Moses and his brother (pbut) fought against Pharaoh’s superpower. He said: God told Moses (pbuh), "Do not fear as I am with you and I hear and see." Then when Moses found the Israelites scared upon seeing the Pharaoh’s army and complaining that the army would kill them, he said, "Never! My Lord is with me and will lead me!If we develop and preserve, within ourselves, the perquisites for having God’s companionship among us, even a power 10 times mightier than the U.S. would not be able to overcome or dominate us."

On the issue of the JCPOA, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated: “We currently cannot make any judgment about the new administration which is to come into power in the U.S. however, the outgoing government acted against the JCPOA commitments and the agreed decisions—as reported to us by the officials then—and has committed multiple wrongs. The current government of the United States has breached the JCPOA on multiple occasions; the most recent being a 10-year extension of existing sanctions. If these sanctions are put into effective, the JCPOA has been, certainly, breached and they [USA] should be aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not stand by idly."
