ElBaradei attempts to become a media attraction

Beside expressing concerns over Iran’s lack of cooperation, IAEA’s latest report has mentioned the deceleration of Iran’s nuclear activities in the past six months. While ElBaradei has considered this a political decision, his organization has reported of a doubling of Iran’s reserve of enriched uranium in the same period. Comment by Amir Mohebbian, Middle East expert:

It seems that Mr. ElBaradei is carrying out parallel projects. Firstly, directing new accusations towards Iran he may reduce the possibility of Iran-U.S. negotiations, a project that benefits Israel. On the other hand, ElBaradei is approaching the end of his term, so he is trying to reappear as a political figure. Most likely he will hold a responsibility on Egypt’s political stage. Reports on Iran’s nuclear program can turn him into a global media attraction. However, I believe Iran will adhere to its agenda earnestly and such reports can not hold it back from the nuclear program.

The paradox in IAEA’s data

Technically, with the current number of centrifuges, uranium enrichment is impossible. Now while IAEA has also ruled out the possibility of uranium enrichment and mentioned the slow pace of nuclear activities, there remains the question –which IAEA should answer- that how enriched uranium reserves have doubled.

While IAEA experts still inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities, with the recent global developments Iran’s nuclear program had lost its importance for a while.
