Environment and the Future of the world

The hot subject of melting of the polar ice gathered tens of world environmental experts together in Teromezo, Norway so the issue is discussed during the "Sustainable Development, world in 20 years' time and ways to success" seminar, held at the occasion of "International Environment Day".

As melting of polar ice is one the world's most important environmental event, causes

of this incident have to be studied so that the continuation of it can be brought to a halt specially as the purpose of mentioned seminar was to find ways to success of international sustainable development can be accomplished within a twenty-year course of action.

To answer this question I tried to point out some certain issues in my speech in the opening of the seminar and draw the attention of the participants who were from different countries and cultures and with various concerns, to the other side of the coin of recent environmental changes.

In fact it is our ideology and mentality that defer mine our behavior and actions and these actions influence the world around us. There's a quotation thought to be by Zartosht – the Iranian prophet – which states: "Watch your thoughts as they create your words, watch your words as they form your deeds, watch your deeds as they make your character and watch your character as it determines your destiny.

If today we face wars, poverty and destruction of environment, we have to carefully identify the causes. Unfulfilled commitments by governments, military actions, irresponsible behavior of world press and media and encouraging consumption culture prove the domination of materialistic, selfish and temporary view which are in contrast with sustainable development.

Human civilization was influenced by a materialistic view in the past century and led the man to the third millennium with experiences full of mistakes and misjudgments.

Of course I am not trying to deny advances in science and technology but I would like to point out the domination of unsustainable trends, violence and wars and paradoxical              standards.

Today more than any other time we can feel the effects of that attitude on our environment, ecosystem and climate, an attitude which is systematically neglecting different aspects of human nature and is destroying the environment.

Karl Gustav Jung, the psychologist whose ideas have helped know modern, materialistic human, has a theory about "Anima" the woman side of men's character and "Animus" the man side of women's character that can be prolonged to our present societies. Unfortunately human who controls international equations and his behavior affects peace and sustainable development, has actually forgotten "Anima" which is created based on emotions and pays attention to details and in-depth issues.

"Anima" forms creativity, color and depth in machine era life which lacks all these and equilibrium between "Anima" and "Animus" creates sustainable character.

What makes rulers of our world move is power, wealth and greed and they are ready to gamble and win at any expense. This means that "Anima" characteristics are not acceptable in the political and management levels of our world. Few ladies who find their ways to these levels have to ignore their "Anima" and few men who have this quality will be put aside for their unusual behavior.

Although emotional intelligence is a moving power in organizational management, leadership based on feminine characteristics especially in high levels of power is very rare. When "Anima" is ignored emotion and spirit of life are lost. In such a situation crimes against human and nature are inevitable and all attempts will be focused on denying them rather than preventing them.

At the moment human's dignity and the ecosystem of earth have been ruined and the solution might be creating equilibrium between "Anima" and "Animus" in world management. This equilibrium will in the first step guarantee peace of human on the inside and then will lead him to peace with others and the nature.

How is it that we deny the power of human soul for the sake of mind's limited logic and deduction power and base our equation upon a materialistic and superficial view that has gorgonized our generations?

Isn't it lack of spiritual mentality and imbalance that has put human in so much trouble with the nature? World leaders have to take another look at what they have done that we are facing this situation now.

The environmental crisis we are facing at the moment is believed by so many people to be the consequence of spiritual crisis a many our politicians. We have ignored our divine nature and are standing against the nature and its rules. It is clear that nature and environment will have a negative response to our pride and selfishness so any effort we make in order to fight climate change and settle peace and sustainable development, will remain failure. Today in our world decision making process is in the hands of the rich, the powerful and the greedy who are only after more power and wealth.

Where are those people who use their own wealth for the sake of peace and comfort of others? Where are those leaders whose only concern is their people and understand the difference between enjoyment and happiness? Undoubtedly, those who have lost their own peace of mind will keep fighting against others and nature. However, those who have preserved their peace of mind are the ones who can bring "Anima" back to international management structures.

These people can guarantee sustainability of development and introduce inspiring leadership in order to change policies, mentalities and behaviors. "Anima" and spiritual awareness can be the most important strategies to affect the future of our world in a positive way.
