Has Nasrallah Revealed His Support for Assad?

Western media has claimed that Hezbollah has attacked three villages in southern Syria. What is your assessment of this news?

With regard to this news, it should be said that since the start of the crisis, the borders between Lebanon and Syria have always been misused by the Salafi groups. Efforts have been made, through this, to help Salafi and extremist groups fighting in Syria against Bashar Assad. Unfortunately, efforts have been made, through these borders, to create a connection between Lebanese and Syrian Salafis. As you are aware, Hezbollah has played an important role in Syria in the resistance front against the Zionist regime. Hezbollah has been a link between the Palestinians and Syria. For this reason, Hezbollah has tried, to the extent possible, not to allow Salafis to use these borders and increase their power; because any help to the Salafis means the realization of the objectives of the Western and Arab axis coordinated with Israel's objectives.

Therefore, Hezbollah has tried its best to prevent this from happening. Now, several possibilities have been raised regarding the reasons behind this attack. It is possible that the places that were attacked were stationing places for Salafi groups or the Zionist regime's spies or mercenaries. Within the framework of Lebanon and the Middle East, Hezbollah has never ignored the territorial integrity of other countries. Obviously, this move has taken place in coordination with the Syrian government. It is in the interest of Bashar's government and to the detriment of the Americans and Israelis.

During the past few days, Nasrallah has said that Hezbollah fights on the side of the Syrian government. Isn’t this a sign that Hezbollah is fighting alongside Syria?

This move is one of the clearest examples of Hezbollah fighting on Syria's side. Of course, cooperation has been going on for some time. These borders have been unstable for some time. Salafi groups have tried, through this, to attack the Lebanese Hezbollah in order to curtail the possibility of Hezbollah's support for Bashar Assad. This is not the first time that such military activities can be seen in this region. Before this, such activities had taken place. This region has become a place for power struggle between the opponents and supporters of Bashar Assad.

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah had stated that he does not need Iran and Syria's support to respond to Israel. Has Hezbollah really become this powerful?

The extent of Hezbollah's power right now is such that it can defend itself without help from Iran or Syria. The Lebanese Hezbollah was able to defend itself during the 22 day war. In the 22 day war, Israel received help from the US forces despite its very powerful navy, ground, and air forces. This is while Hezbollah at that time fought by itself using the equipments that it had, and it was victorious. The Winograd report confirms the issue that the Zionist regime was defeated by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has gained more experience and more training and has also gathered more armaments and even manufactured them. The unmanned ‘Ayub’ plane was an example of Hezbollah's technological and military progress.

Considering the new regional developments, how is Hezbollah's status defined?

Following the recent developments with regard to the axis of resistance, efforts were made to weaken Hezbollah and for this institution to be overshadowed by the anti-Zionist movements in Egypt. Some movements attempted to distance the Hamas movement from Hezbollah but Hezbollah is still at the forefront of decision-making processes, the signs of which can be observed. Any position taken by Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, under the present conditions, is paid attention to and affects the calculations of the Zionist regime. The reactions of the Israelis, whether political or military, against Hezbollah's positions indicate the status of Hezbollah. Hezbollah is still the most important and the most influential resistance movement despite all the propaganda against it and even despite the creation of rivals with Qatar and Turkey as the defenders of Palestinian rights. Despite being Shiite, for which it is under pressure, Hezbollah's military capabilities and its explicit, clear and serious political positions have caused its impacts to grow and not be reduced.
