Iran condoles with Japan over earthquake

 ISNA-Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi condoled with Japanese nation over tsunami and destructive earthquake in the East Asian country.

Tsunami and massive earthquake struck northeast coast of Japan on Friday, probably killing at least 1,300 people.

The earthquake came with magnitude of 8.9. But the tsunami triggered by the earthquake did no major damage when it reached the Pacific coast of North and South America early on Saturday.

In a message to new Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto, Salehi expressed sorrow over the huge earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan which inflicted heavy casualties and damages to the country.

He then added the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to send aid and rescue teams to Japan to help victims.
