ISNA-Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi hailed Syria's recent reforms in the country.

"Syria has stood in a resistance front against Zionist regime and has got a considerable role in thwarting plots of the West and the US in the region. Syrian authorities have taken good steps towards reforms over recent developments in the country," Salehi said on Tuesday as speaking in an international conference in Tehran.

"We hope we could witness strength of ties among regional countries," he added.

Protests in Syria began in mid March during which protestors called for political and economic reforms. Some clashes were seen in the protests.

Salehi also condemned military interference in Bahrain and said, "military meddling to confront a move run by majority of people is strategically in contradiction with establishment of peace and security in the region."

"We are against any interference by outsiders against domestic issues of countries and occupation of their lands specially Bahrain and Libya under any excuse," he continued.

Iranian authorities have already condemned military interference in Bahrain and deployment of forces from Saudi Arabia and the UAE to help crackdown on popular protests.

Iranian Chief Diplomat raised concerns over killing of people in Yemen and said, "any civil war in the country should be avoided and that Iran stresses unity in the country, attention to popular demands and non-interfering measures by foreigners."
