FNA- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad deplored the US and its allies' meddling in the region and their efforts to sow discord among independent states, and stressed that the waves of awakening spreading among the world nations will end the dominance of the hegemonic powers.

Speaking in a meeting with Bolivian President Evo Morales in New York, Ahmadinejad pointed to the popular movements sweeping the different world regions at present and underlined that the world powers' interference in the other countries' affairs would eventually prove "futile".

"Although the US administration and a number of its allies are continuing interference in the region and spark tension and conflicts in independent states, this meddling is futile since nations are awakened and the dominance of these hegemonic states is coming to an end," President Ahmadinejad noted.

As regards Latin America, Ahmadinejad said the current developments serve the interests of the independent nations.

Morales, for his part, lauded the friendly and deep relations between Iran and Bolivia, and underlined that his country supports the principled policies of the Islamic Republic, reiterating that no one can undermine the two countries' ties.

Iran has in recent years expanded friendly ties with Latin America, specially in economic, trade and industrial fields.

Since taking office in 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expanded Iran's cooperation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, Brazil and Ecuador.

The strong and rapidly growing ties between Iran and Latin America have raised eyebrows in the US and its western allies since Tehran and Latin America have forged an alliance against the imperialist and colonialist powers.
