Mehr News – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has called on the British government to modify its approach toward the Islamic Republic.

Salehi made the remarks during a meeting with the new British ambassador to Iran, Dominick John Chilcott, in Tehran late on Wednesday.

Salehi also commented on the relations between the two countries during the recent years and said Britain should get to know the realities of Iran and rethink its approach to the country.

During the meeting, Chilcott also said that he is on a mission to transfer the realities and facts about Iran to his government.

A number of Iranian lawmakers, on a number of occasions, have urged the Foreign Ministry to reduce or even sever diplomatic relations with Britain due to its hostile attitude toward Iran and its interference in the country’s internal affairs.

In an interview with the Mehr News Agency on August 1, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said, “We have not made a decision on reducing ties with Britain.”
