IRGC forces practice downing mock enemy drones

Mehr News – IRGC ground troops practiced shooting down mock enemy drones during the main stage of the war games which started in eastern Iran on Saturday, the spokesman of the maneuvers announced on Monday.

 

The main stage of the maneuvers, called Martyrs to Unity, ended on Monday.

 

Brigadier Hamid Sarkheili also said that cavalry units of the IRGC ground forces destroyed mock enemy targets with domestically manufactured missiles during the main stage.

 

IRGC commandoes attacked on mock enemy positions with heavy fire and air defense units targeting flying aircraft at low altitudes using shoulder-fired missiles, he added.

 

In addition, he said that ground troops and cavalry units practiced tactics of asymmetric warfare using deception and camouflage equipment.

 

During the preliminary stage of the war games, which ended on Sunday, cavalry, mechanized, and combat units of IRGC ground forces spread out across the theater of operation and engaged in mock battles using tactics of asymmetric warfare. A domestically manufactured wheeled personnel carrier and a domestically manufactured tracked personnel carrier were also unveiled.

 

IRGC Ground Forces Commander Mohammad Pakpour said on Saturday that the purposes of the war games were to enhance the capabilities of IRGC ground troops and combat units and increase security at Iran’s borders.
