Tehran, January 15, 2012: Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami offered his condolences following the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan.

“The vile practice of terrorism which proves its perpetrators' lack of reason ... is condemned in all its guises, especially when it targets the lives of the great assets of a nation; that is, its scientists.” Khatami stated in his message.

The former president also added that the assassination of Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan “is a sign of premeditated ploys against the Iranian nation and its progress”, backed by bullying powers.

Khatami's tone was pessimistic as he referred to international organizations, stating that no one expects a response from the ones that "claim safeguarding peace, security and human rights."

Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, a top operative of Natanz nuclear facility, was assassinted by two unidentified motorcyclists on Wednesday morning in Tehran by a magnet bomb implemented under his car. His driver, Reza Qashqaei, was fatally wounded, passing away in the hospital.
