Iran, Nigeria call for expansion of ties

TEHRAN, March 22 (MNA) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan held a telephone conversation on Wednesday, in which they called for the expansion of relations in all spheres.

Ahmadinejad said, “Today, the situation is ripe to increase the level of cooperation between Iran and Nigeria.”

“In the circumstances where the world is in need of a new order, the two countries of Iran and Nigeria can play significant roles through cooperating with each other,” he added.

Jonathan stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran and Nigeria have many affinities, which can be used to enhance the level of cooperation between the two countries.”

He added that increased ties between Tehran and Abuja benefit the world.
