Deposed Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has been taken back to a prison hospital near Cairo hours after the country’s top prosecutors ordered his transfer, reported state television

Mubarak, 84, was taken by an ambulance on Monday night to the medical facility at the high-security Tura Prison from the Maadi military hospital in southern Cairo where he had stayed for nearly a month, added the television, quoting security sources.

A committee of medical experts, formed by the Chief Prosecutor Abdul Majid Mahmoud, agreed on Mubarak’s transfer to the prison hospital after they concluded that his health condition is stable and good for a man of his age, said official media.

Mubarak was moved to the Maadi army hospital on June 19 after his health had worsened with the state Middle East News Agency reporting at the time he was clinically dead following his arrival at the military facility. His health condition has since been kept a secret.

The former strongman, who ruled Egypt for nearly 30 years, was first taken to the prison hospital on June 2 when a court sentenced him to life imprisonment for complicity in killing hundreds of protesters in a revolt against him in February 2011.

His supporters plan a protest on Tuesday outside the chief prosecutor’s office in Cairo against his order of transferring Mubarak to the prison hospital.
