Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged on Sunday that the Western-led sanctions have had no impact on Iran’s nuclear program.

“We have to be honest and say that all the sanctions and diplomacy so far have not set back the Iranian program by one iota,” Netanyahu said in a meeting White House hopeful Mitt Romney in (Beit-ul-Moqaddas) Jerusalem.

As a signatory to the non-proliferation regime (NPT), Iran is legally entitled to master nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

The UN nuclear watchdog body the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is constantly monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities.

Romney backs Israel in propaganda campaign against Iran

To win the support of the Jewish lobby in the November election Romney on Sunday held top-level talks in Israel about how to deal with Iran.

“The threat it (Iran) would pose to Israel, the region and the world is incomparable and unacceptable,” Romney claimed.

“Iran and its effort to become a nuclear-capable nation (is one) which I take with great seriousness, and look forward to chatting with you about further actions that we can take to dissuade Iran from their nuclear folly,” Romney told Netanyahu.
