In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the recent remarks of British Prime Minister David Cameron against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

During a speech at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Cameron warned of a potential arms race across the Middle East and said that Iran is seeking to produce nuclear arms.

In the statement, the Foreign Ministry said Cameron’s false and unreasonable claims about Iran’s nuclear activities are indicative of the fact that he has no respect for “international law and countries’ accepted rights based on the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty).”

The British prime minister expresses concern over an arms race in the Middle East while the main objective of his trip to the region is to trigger an arms race and British weapons are being sent to “the sensitive region of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf,” the statement said.

“Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is within the framework of international regulations and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” the statement said, adding, “Iran has cooperated with the IAEA more than any other country to prove its good faith and believes that there is no solution other than meaningful dialogue and constructive interaction.”

The Foreign Ministry also said that Iran will never relinquish its rights to a peaceful use of nuclear technology in the face of pressure.

The Iranian people and government have always proven that in their efforts to gain their inalienable rights based on the NPT they will not buckle down to the pressure by greedy countries, the statement said.
