(FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian plans to pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia in the near future to discuss promotion of all-out ties, the Lebanese media said.

The Lebanese al-Khabar website reported that Amir Abdollahian is to visit Jeddah to pave the way for high-profile talks between the two sides.

On many occasions, including June 2013, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has asked Muslim nations to grow united against the arrogant powers, warning that gaps in the Muslim community will create an opportunity for the Zionist regime to implement its plots against them.

"Unity and companionship among Muslims is an urgent obligation," Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time, addressing participants in the 30th International Quran Competitions in Tehran.

"Today is the day of test for the Muslims and Islamic states, and Muslim nations should be completely vigilant," the Iranian Supreme Leader cautioned.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned of the West's campaign against Islam and the Muslim world, and said the western enemies are showing their hostility towards Muslims very openly, "thus, the Islamic Ummah should reinvigorate its intrinsic ability and power factors, and one of the most important factors in this regard is unity, integration and focus on commonalities".

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for the Middle East and North Africa Mojtaba Ferdowsipour reiterated the vital importance of the enhancement of unity among the regional states, and expressed the hope that the recent shift in the Saudi officials' approach towards the regional disputes would bring about good results for the entire Middle-East.

Ferdowsipour pointed to Riyadh’s new approach towards regional developments, and expressed hope that such a shift of policy would prepare the ground for closer convergence on the regional level and bring Iran and Saudi Arabia closer to each other as their consultations facilitate the interests of the entire region.

“Saudi Arabia is correcting its past behavior concerning regional developments, which will hopefully help the establishment of stability in the region,” he noted.
