Rouhani Calls for Broadening of Iran-Switzerland Ties

(FNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his Swiss counterpart Didier Burkhalter called for the further expansion of Iran-Switzerland ties.

"I hope that bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Swiss Confederation that have always seen a progressive trend due to their valuable historical background make increasing progress in political, economic, industrial, scientific and cultural areas," President Rouhani said in his message to President Burkhalter on the occasion of the Switzerland's National Day.

In his message, President Rouhani also felicitated his Swiss counterpart on the occasion, and wished health and success for Burkhalter and prosperity for the Swiss nation.

Last month, Iranian Ambassador to Switzerland Gholam Ali Khoshro and President Burkhalter stressed the need for both Tehran and Bern to utilize each and every capacity and potential to pave the way for the promotion of their bilateral relations in all sectors.

At the meeting in Bern, Khoshro also conveyed a message from President Rouhani to Burkhalter, and voiced Tehran's enthusiasm for expanding mutual cooperation in all fields.

Khoshro also appreciated Switzerland for hosting several rounds of nuclear talks between Iran and the six major world powers.

President Burkhalter, who is also Swiss Foreign Minister, expressed hope that ties between the two countries would witness further expansion during Khoshro's tenure.
