PM Praises Iran’s Full Support for Syrian Gov’t, Nation in Anti-Terrorism Campaign

(FNA)- Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi said that Damascus's upper hand in its nearly four-year-long war against the foreign-backed militants and the ISIL terrorists is indebted to Tehran's unsparing support and wise foreign policy.

In a meeting with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday, al-Halqi conveyed President Bashar al-Assad's warm greetings to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei , the Iranian President and nation for their support, saying that Syrian government and nation appreciate Iranian nation for their support for the country during the four-year conflict.

He further noted that national reconciliation aiming at developing peace and tranquility across the country is proceeding well.

Criticizing certain countries for supporting terrorists, al-Halqi pointed out that the Syrian government will review any practical initiative which does not damage the country's national sovereignty and help promote solidarity.

Syrian has been engaged in foreign-backed insurgency since 2011 when militants from foreign countries flocked to Syria to topple legal government of President al-Assad.

Based on recent statistics over 200,000 people have been killed during clashes between terrorists and Syrian troops and millions have been displaced inside and outside of Syria.
