Iran Reiterates Support for Lebanon

(FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam reiterated Tehran's support for Beirut.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran supports Lebanon," Amir Abdollahian said during the meeting held on the sidelines of the International Meeting on Syria in Kuwait on Tuesday night.

Amir Abdollahian also appreciated the Lebanese prime minister for his efforts to maintain stability, security and strengthening the political trend in Lebanon.

The Lebanese prime minister, for his part, voiced satisfaction in the current trend of Tehran-Beirut relations.

Also in January, Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Ali Fathali and Salam in a meeting in Beirut underlined the need for the further expansion of mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, the Iranian ambassador and the Lebanese prime minister explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating relations in different fields.

Fathali and Salam also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
