(FNA)- Iran on Sunday inaugurated 8 new units for the production of explosives and boosters.

The units were inaugurated in a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.

The products inaugurated by the Iranian defense minister included a celluloid cartridge production line, an explosive Patton production line, development phase of an emulsion explosives production line, a nitro-medicine tablets production plant, a glass de-nitration production plant, a platinum-coated Neoprene anodes production unit, a phosphate pelletizing plant, a phosphoric acid production unit and a micro polymer balloons unit.

Addressing the ceremony, Vahidi said that the new units are "symbols" of Iran's ability to break the sanctions and reach self-reliance and self-sufficiency in hi-tech and complex defense industries.

In relevant remarks earlier this week, a senior Iranian military commander stressed that Iran enjoys the ability to supply the country's Armed Forces with their needed military tools and equipment without foreign assistance.

"Today, we have achieved self-sufficiency in producing military equipment and defense systems," Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for Logistics and Industrial Research General Mohammad Hejazi told reporters on Thursday.

The Iranian Armed Forces displayed the country's latest home-made military tools, weapons and equipments in large military parades in Tehran on September 21.

The annual September 21 parades mark the start of the Week of Sacred Defense, commemorating Iranians' sacrifices during the 8 years of Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s.

During the parades, the Iranian armed forces displayed different weapons and military tools and equipment, including different kinds of fighters, choppers, drones, ground-to-ground missiles, air-to-ground missiles, surface-to-surface missiles, tactical and armed vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, electronic and telecommunication equipment, light and mid-light weapons, different kinds of artillery and mortar-launchers, air defense systems and engineering and logistic equipment.
