P5+1’s Expectations, Iran’s Red Lines

-When the successes achieved by Iran were stopped by the French Foreign Minister, a new wave entered the scene of negotiations which was totally to our disadvantage and in fact froze us.

-With Hollande’s trip to Israel, this wave expanded, to the extent that, in his telephone conversation with Mr. Rohani yesterday, Putin stated that it is better for Iran to agree with the P5+1’s proposal. This would mean that we have lost almost all of our hopes for bargaining.

-Following this wave, the level of the P5+1’s expectations grew to the extent that some of them coincide with Iran’s red lines. Therefore, if we intend to achieve success in the upcoming negotiations which must be done by considering domestic conditions, we must show more flexibility.

-Of course there is the concern that, following an agreement, other issues would be proposed which would be more difficult and heavier and the western countries might attempt to resolve their package of differences with Iran on this path.

-The reaction which the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament showed with regard to the US Congress’ statement was very good. But following this reaction, there have probably been certain negotiations inside Iran of which I am not aware of the details and I do not know whether Mr. Zarif and Mr. Araghchi still hold their previous positions or not.

-In my opinion, if Iran insists on its previous positions, it will certainly be faced with defeat. If these negotiations fail and the statement made by the National Security Committee proves to be true, then we will enter a new phase.
