Iran Calls for Expansion of Ties with Algeria, Bangladesh

(FNA)- Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi called for the broadening of relations with Algeria and Bangladesh in technical fields.

Vaezi made the remarks in separate meetings with his Algerian and Bangladeshi counterparts in Geneva on Thursday.

During the meeting with his Algerian counterpart Zohra Derdouri, Vaezi said pointed to the status quo of Iran-Algeria relations, and said, "Iran is ready to exchange views and experiences with Algeria in different areas."

During the meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Abdul Latif Siddique, the Iranian communications minister said that the Iranian government is seeking to expand relations will other countries, the Muslims in particular.

The Iranian minister travelled to Switzerland to attend the meeting of the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).

In recent years, Iran has sought hard to boost ties and cooperation with African and Asian countries.

Iran is an observing member of the African Union (AU) and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.
