Lebanese FM highlights Iran’s role in campaign against terrorism

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil has highlighted Iran’s role in campaign against terrorism, saying that terrorism should be rooted out through cooperation by the entire world.
 
He made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fath-Ali on Friday.
 
Terrorism poses threat to the whole world, so it is in the interests of the international community to cooperate in the fight against such a threat, he stated.
 
Commenting on Iran-Lebanon good relations in various spheres, Bassil said that Lebanon is ready to expand cooperation and ties with Iran.
 
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry considers itself duty bound to take steps toward expansion of cooperation with Iran within the framework of mutual respect, he added.
 
The Iranian ambassador said that Tehran’s principled policy is supporting stability in Lebanon.
 
He also condemned terrorist actions in Lebanon.
 
He pointed to religious and political diversity in Lebanon, saying the Iranian policy is to interact with all the political factions in Lebanon with the aim of maintaining stability in the country.
 
Fath-Ali also met with Vice-President of Supreme Islamic Shia Council of Lebanon Sheikh Abdul-Amir Qablan on Thursday.
 
Commenting on the important status of Iran in the region, Qablan said that Iran is the pioneer in the fight against terrorism in the region.
 
The Iranian ambassador said people’s awareness is important in countering terrorists’ divisive plots.
