(FNA)- Iraniain border guards arrested three members of Jeish al-Adl terrorist group as they were trying to sneak into Iran through the borders of the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan

"Last night a terrorist team whose members sought to cross the border to create insecurity and carry out sabotage acts in Sistan and Balouchestan province were arrested by the border guards," Commander of the Iranian Border Guards Brigadier General Qassem Rezayee told reporters in Zahedan city on Saturday.

Explaining that the terrorists plotted to sneak into the country via Mirjaveh border and carry out sabotage acts in Sistan and Balouchestan and Kerman provinces, the commander said during the 2-hour clashes, three terrorists were arrested alive with one of them sustaining injuries.

"Based on their confessions, they have been hired by the US to foment insecurity in Sistan and Balouchestan, Kerman and the adjacent provinces through acts of sabotage," Rezayee said.

He also announced that a cache of weapons, ammunition, detonators and illicit drugs were discovered and seized from the terrorist group.

Also late last month, Iranian security forces dismantled a notorious terrorist group in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

"This year we have had good security gains in Sistan and Balouchestan, including the killing of Ansar al-Forqan grouplet's ringleader, Hesham Azizi, nicknamed Abu Hafs al-Baloushi, by the security forces along with a number of others (terrorists)," Deputy Governor-General of Sistan and Balouchestan province for Security and Police Affairs Ali Asqar Mirshekari said at the time.

He said that a large number of weapons, ammunitions and explosives were discovered and seized from the terrorist group which plotted to spread fear and terror and assassinate people in Sistan and Balouchestan.

Ansar al-Forqan terrorist group was formed in December 2013 in Southeastern Iran. Ansar al-Forqan was linked to Jeish ul-Adl and Al-Nusra Front terrorist groups.

The Ansar al-Forqan terrorist group was formed with financial and arms support from some Western and regional Arab states to cause insecurity and terror in the Southeastern part of the country.

In July, a senior Iranian lawmaker announced that Iran had dismantled nearly two dozen terrorist groups in the Eastern parts of the country in a six-month period.

"The security forces have apprehended 20 terrorist groups in Eastern Iran in the past six months," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Reza Mohseni Sani said.

He reiterated that Iran is fully monitoring the activities of the terrorist groups trying to enter the country.

Mohseni Sani's remarks came few days after the Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced that security forces had arrested 30 people with links to the Al-Qaeda terrorist group.
