Will Zarif Succeed in Taking Second Step in Diplomacy?

In an interview, Mr. Zarif has stated that in the post-JCPOA atmosphere and after bypassing sanctions, the priority of the Foreign Ministry in the new year is to establish peace and stability in the Middle East.

In an article recently published in the Guardian, Mr. Zarif also reiterated that Iran’s attempt to ban weapons of mass destruction in its surrounding regions is a continuous attempt and that the Zionist regime, as the only regime which holds nuclear weapons, is the only barrier which should directly and immediately be dealt with in the shadow of the historic nuclear agreement.

Under the shadow of such a policy, the recent trilateral meetings between Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan in Ramsar and Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan in Baku indicate that Tehran, on the path of the policy of regional stability, attempts to pursue this constructive view in a multilateral fashion using its own and other countries’ capacities within the critical and tense geography of the region.

Furthermore, the visits made by Iran’s Foreign Minister to Turkey, Pakistan and Iraq and other countries of the region are also signs of Tehran’s serious and strong move with good intentions despite all problems, conspiracies and measures which are taken against Iran by the regional and extra-regional rivals of our country.

It seems that the Islamic Republic of Iran concentrates its policy of regional stability on the active role of the neighboring countries and cooperation to resolve big problems including terrorism and then on effective economic steps. It also attempts to prepare the ground for the establishment of peace and stability in the dangerous Middle East region through a collective measure and has made great efforts to prevent any tension in this regard.

On the contrary, some of Iran’s regional rivals have taken all measures possible to create tension and highlight the differences in order to intrigue Tehran to respond and draw Iran to the atmosphere of small regional rivalries. They also make accusations against Iran in order to distance Tehran officials from pursuing a wise and prudent path and push them towards illogical measures.

In the end, it seems that Iran intends to establish good relations with those countries of the region which are capable of being active in the process of stabilizing the region. In this path, Iran is using all its possibilities to fight against terrorism and the centers which spread and propagate the idea of radicalism.

Tehran is making long-term plans to defend the people of the region against inhumane and prejudiced views of certain countries in order to prevent violence and war and eliminate the hallucinations of the young rulers who have come to power.
