As the peace talks, or ‘Compromise Talks’ as it they are preferentially called in the Iranian revolutionary media, were going on in Washington, in Iran, thousands marched in the annual Quds Day rallies (held on the last Friday of Ramadan) to show solidarity with the Palestinians. At Friday prayers, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, denounced the talks and called for resistance to end the plight of the Palestinian nation.

(1)   An allusion to the Neither Gaza, Nor Lebanon/My Life Devoted to Iran which was the most popular slogan chanted by the Green Movement supporters during last year’s Quds Day Rally held on the last Friday of the Ramadan in Iran and other Muslim countries. The slogan infuriated many revolutionary politicians as it was in opposition to the Islamic Republic’s 30-year agenda of defending the Palestinian cause.
